Records are made to be broken, but even to this day the record set on December 22, 1932 by a mall Santa has not been threatened. He, and a small gang, stole $575,000 worth of goods from the Burlington Coat Factory at the Akron Central Shopping Mall in Akron, Ohio - the highest total ever shoplifted from Burlington. He was arrested within the week, but not before he had given all of the loot away in the true spirit of the season.
