President Gerald Ford (1974-1977) knew that his time at the White House would be up quickly, and he would have to find a new source of income. We at The History Bluff are unsure where his idea came from, but he ultimately decided to pursue a modeling career while still in office. With the White House photographers at his disposal, President Ford worked it at the swimming pool whenever he could before his term ended.

Did You Know? President Ford was a known prankster. White House aides have said that while others were speaking during meetings, Ford would often flash his bare chest at them to try to get them to laugh.

After his presidency, Ford was once featured in a swimsuit centerfold in People Magazine. However, reliance on his trademarked, “Flashing the Bod” pose proved to be the downfall of his brief modeling career.
