July 4 is fast approaching, and we’re doing our part in building the excitement leading up to this landmark holiday. Our plot is quite simple: Build excitement by hosting a caption contest and give the winner a Chia Obama.
Chia Obama can be yours.
Here’s how the contest will work:
For the weeks of June 7 and 14, we will be accepting captions.
On the week of June 21, The History Bluff will host the first round of voting. All captions received by 10pm ET on June 20 will be posted, and your friends and family can then vote for your caption. The top five vote-getting captions will move on to the final round.
June 28 is the final week of the contest. The top five captions will have been selected and open to voting. Voting closes at 10pm ET on July 3. On July 4th – the winner is announced and their life will be changed forever.
Here is your picture to caption – and yes, that is Fidel Castro at the feet of Lincoln.

Shortly after this photo was taken, the bluebird of happiness perched on Lincoln's right hand "spotted" Fidel with a well-placed "bird bomb". The Cuban leader claimed it was a CIA attempt to assassinate him, touching off ill-feelings that continue to this day.

Fidel Castro pictured covertly scanning for park service guards. Immediately after this picture was taken, he scrambled up the monument and perched atop Old Abe's knee to retrieve his pet Cuckoo which had been nesting in his beard.

Inspired by the Carmen San Diego series, Castro attempts to remove Abe Lincoln from his own memorial.

Little did Fidel know that he was actually standing beneath a highly advanced robo-Licoln, ready to kick him back to Cigarland as soon as the stupid bird got off the power switch.

This picture, one of the "lost Castro" series, has written on the back, "A picture with my hero." He would later say that Lincoln "brought revolution the right way" although Castro did quip, "he could've just named himself dictator and ended it right there".

Washington reconnaissance: August 1962:
Castro: "See the bulls-eye down under the feet? Aim our Russian comrades gifts here."
Lackey: Um: Sir? Why is that bird emitting a dial tone?"

Little did the CIA know that Comrade Fidel had parked his pilfered '57 Chevys under monument and was just waiting for the right time to sneak them out of the country!

Number one: the history bluff writer is not ACTING intelligent and/or funny, he really IS.
Number two: if you are so concerned about the wasting of time and space, maybe you shouldn't waste your time, and other people's space writing these time-wasting comments that are not true.

Fascinated with the memorial wreath and the never-before-seen strain of evergreen, Castro asked his bodyguard to take a photo of him beside it. After getting the picture developed at the local CVS, Castro was irate at how far the camera was zoomed out. After a second glance, his anger was quelled as he commented, "Oh, cool, who is the big guy in the armchair?"
